Safarinia: 6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week to Host Over 100 Guests with Diverse Science and Technology Events

Mahdi Safarininia, President of the Mustafa(pbuh) Science and Technology Foundation, outlined the programs of the 6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week in a press conference on Tuesday. He announced that the events will take place from September 6 to 10, with the award ceremony on September 8.

In the press conference for the 6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize, Safarinia announced that the 2025 Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week will bring together a large community of scientists and technologists, creating a unique opportunity for scientific interaction and networking among researchers and science enthusiasts. The highlight of the week will be the award ceremony, scheduled for September 8 at 7 p.m. in Vahdat Hall, Tehran.
He added that more than 100 guests from various Islamic countries will participate in this week’s programs. This edition also features the first-ever Young Scientists Medal, awarded to researchers under the age of 40. The funding for this award comes from the endowment of two previous Mustafa(pbuh) Prize laureates, Ugur Sahin and Omid Farokhzad.
Safarinia said that on September 7, the Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP) will be held at Amirkabir University of Technology. The day’s agenda includes a keynote speech by Mohammad Iqbal Choudhary, President of COMSTECH, on “Brain Drain,” as well as a talk by TWAS President Quarraisha Abdool Karim.
He also noted that this year’s program will feature Science Cafes. One session will be held on Sunday at Amirkabir University of Technology (10:00–12:00) with prize laureate Mehmet Toner. Two additional Science Cafes will take place later the same day, featuring Vahab Mirrokni and Muhammad Nazeeruddin.
Safarinia also highlighted other events of this edition, including “Sci-Quest” programs and Science Cafes in Khuzestan, Zanjan, and Isfahan. He noted that a roundtable with the laureates will be held on Saturday, September 6 at the National Library. In addition, a meeting on endowment and the development of science and technology will take place on Sunday morning, September 7 at Pardis Science and Technology Park, followed by a tour of the Park for the laureates in the afternoon.
According to him, the Prize Advisory Council meeting will also be held on Monday, September 8 with the presence of guests, followed that evening by the ceremony for the 6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize.
