From Amirkabir University to Tehran Book Garden: A Week of Science with the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize

The 2025 Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week will serve as a platform for scholars, young talents, and science enthusiasts across the Islamic world, hosting programs ranging from specialized panel discussions at Amirkabir University to the closing ceremony of the Noor Student Competition at Tehran Book Garden.
Tasnim – Mohammad Hossein Mirhashemi, Director of Communications and Outreach at the Mustafa(pbuh) Science and Technology Foundation, outlined the schedule for the 2025 Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week, as the official poster for its 6th edition was released.
The Prize ceremony is the main and central event of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week, with other programs built around this event.
According to Mirhashemi, the 2025 edition will be held under the overarching theme of “Science and Technology of the Future.” He added: “Two central focus areas of this year’s programs are ‘Tomorrow’s Medicine’ and ‘Cutting-Edge Engineering,’ around which both specialized and outreach activities will be organized.”
Registration Now Open
With the release of the official poster, registration has opened for various programs within the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week. Interested participants can now sign up for the Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP) in Islamic Countries through the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize website.
A limited number of participants may also register to attend the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize award ceremony, which will be held at Vahdat Hall, while a number of participants will also be invited based on priorities.
Mirhashemi also declared that in the coming days, registration will open for other programs organized by the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Observatory, such as Science Cafe, through the same website.
Press Conference to Announce Laureates
The Director of Communications and Outreach at the Mustafa(pbuh) Science and Technology Foundation announced that a press conference will be held in early September to unveil the laureates of the 6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize. The Foundation will also release reports highlighting the significance of the laureates’ scientific achievements.
The First “Young Scientist Medal”
Mirhashemi noted that on September 6, the opening day of the Prize Week, the Young Scientist Medal will be awarded for the first time. Candidates for this award have to be under the age of 40, meaning those born in 1986 or later. The call for nominations was announced last year, and leading institutions and scholars were able to submit candidates until this September. The medal will be awarded in a ceremony hosted by the Academy of Sciences.
STEP at Amirkabir University
He added that on Sunday, STEP will be held at Amirkabir University of Technology, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The program will feature a series of specialized panels, workshops, keynote speeches, roundtables, and the closing ceremony.
Simultaneously, Science Cafes will be held at Amirkabir University, where the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize laureates present their achievements in simple, accessible language for students and science enthusiasts. The main goal of the cafes is to make scientific concepts more understandable and reduce the cognitive load of complex topics for the audience. On the same day, a forum on “Endowments and the Advancement of Science and Technology” will also take place concurrently with the Science Cafe and STEP.
Policy-making Council and Award Ceremony
Mirhashemi added that on Monday, the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Policy-Making Council will convene with the participation of both national and international members to discuss key issues related to the award. Later that evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., Tehran’s Vahdat Hall will host hundreds of science and technology enthusiasts along with the laureates of the 6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize for the award ceremony.
Closing Ceremony of the Noor Student Competition
Mirhashemi further noted that on September 9, the closing ceremony of the Noor Student Competition will take place at Tehran Book Garden. During this event, the winners of the contest will be honored. The competition, centered on producing short science clips, has engaged students over the past several months. This final ceremony will mark the conclusion of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Week.
