COMSTECH President: Iran’s Scientific Achievements Are Admirable for All Islamic Countries

The President of COMSTECH, referring to the achievements of Iranian scientists in various fields of knowledge, stated: “These accomplishments are commendable and admirable for all Islamic countries.”

According to the Communications and Promotion Office of the Mustafa (pbuh) Science and Technology Foundation, Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, President of COMSTECH (the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), today (Saturday), during the Young Scientist Medal Award Ceremony at the Academy of Sciences, emphasized the long-standing history of Iranian culture and civilization, saying: “The Iranian nation is the heir to a superior civilization, human dignity, social justice, and equality.”

He praised the resilience and courage of the Iranian people and added: “I hope you and your nation will prevail through all turbulent times, and may Almighty God bestow His blessings upon the people and land of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Choudhary continued: “Today, knowledge is a tool for development, and what Iran has achieved is usable and praiseworthy for all Islamic countries.”

Addressing the young scientists present at the event, the COMSTECH President said: “Your vision for achieving newer accomplishments depends on the current realities of the world of science. You scientists must compete with highly intelligent machines in the pursuit of scientific achievements.”

Referring to the accomplishments of scientists in the fields of life sciences and medicine, he added: “You are a generation capable of living up to 100 years and acquiring new skills. Many of you will attend next-generation universities.”

Citing a report by the global McKinsey Institute, Choudhary stated: “In 2022, twelve disruptive technologies are projected to generate over $33 trillion in wealth by 2025. These technologies include mobile internet, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, advanced robotics, genomics and next-generation biotechnology, advanced materials through nanotechnology, regenerative medicine, and new energy devices.”

Emphasis on Beneficial Knowledge in Islam

According to Choudhary, the most important concept is the prophetic notion of “beneficial knowledge.” Based on Islamic teachings, the fundamental function of knowledge in Islam is to solve problems. Any knowledge that cannot or does not solve the daily and enduring problems of humanity is, in fact, not considered “knowledge.” Knowledge used for undesirable purposes is likened to the sting of a venomous snake.

This Pakistani Scientist, referring to the achievements of Muslim scientists, said: “The science developed by Muslims between the 8th and 12th centuries was deeply rooted in the human values of Islam.”

He added: “The foundational scientific achievements of Muslims were all aimed at securing the common global good and the welfare of humans and other living beings.”
