Call for Nominations for the 2026 Young Scientist Medal Announced
The call for the 2026 Young Scientist Medal has been opened, inviting institutions or academic figures to nominate outstanding scientific works by researchers under 40 Nominations will close on January 20.

The Young Scientist Medal is one of the programs of the Mustafa(pbuh) Science and Technology Foundation, established through the endowments of several Mustafa(pbuh) Prize laureates. Professors Ugur Sahin, Omid Farrokhzad, and Vahab Mirrokni dedicated their cash prize to this cause upon receiving their Mustafa(pbuh) Prize in 2019, 2023, and 2025, respectively.
The laureates of this Medal are bestowed a certificate and a $10,000 cash prize in each category. The first Young Scientist Medal award ceremony was held in September 2025.
Nomination Requirements
The 2026 Young Scientist Medal will be awarded to influential works in the fields of Life and Medical Science and Technology, Basic and Engineering Sciences, and Computer Science.
The candidate for the Young Scientist Medal must be under 40 years old at the end of the year in which the medal is awarded. This means that candidates for the 2026 Young Scientist Medal must be born in 1987 or later.
Scientific works must be nominated by a third-party scientific or technological body, such as universities and research centers, reputable scientific and technological associations and institutions, academies of sciences, or science and technology parks.
The aforementioned scientific and research centers can introduce their candidates to the Young Scientist Medal Secretariat by January 20, 2026. The award ceremony will be held in November 2026.
The Young Scientist Medal promotes scientific and technological breakthroughs by young scientists in the Islamic world and recognizes their influential achievements. Established as a symbol of excellence and scientific merit, the medal honors the contributions of the young generation of scientific talent.
